Challenge: Shoot From Behind Your Subject (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Nikon D90
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II
Date: Jun 2, 2013
Aperture: f5.6
ISO: 1000
Shutter: 1/500
Date Uploaded: Jun 2, 2013

Shot at a horse pull some 4hrs drive and 200km from me...worth the trip, even the downpour! It just bucketed down. I saw some guys take refuge under the eaves of the building every other spectator was heading for, so I joined them, as the just-finished light horse class (less than 3400 lbs combined weight) leaving the arena. So I shot em.

In the driving world, reins are called 'lines'. But here the alliteration was so obvious - heavy rain making the lines/reins sodden and sagging under its weight

pp: shot RAW, crop, brightness/contrast, vibrance/saturation, resize, sharpen, save for web

post challenge: Wow, this is the only time I've ever shot at a high ISO and not been dinged for noise!! :-) Maybe I should do it more often, so long as it's heavy rain like this.

I really like this image Susan, one of my favs. The muted colors along with the rain and action really tells a story.

I love this. I wish they had horse pulls around here. I went to a tractor pull once but I'd MUCH prefer to watch horses.

This has wonderful power to it. The rain, the strength of the animals... I just really enjoy it for some reason.
