the mud made cool patterns and I paused to take a time out and take a shot. in photoshop: sharpened, b/w, dodge/burning of mud spots as well as spaces between bricks for contrast. also cloned out bracelet, and part of necklace.

Well, I liked it and think you got ripped off points-wise. But remember artists, and innovators and those ahead of the times are usually ignored and/or misunderstood.
I wasn't sure if it was intended to be "disturbing," but took it as a positive factor if it was ... this was one of my highest-scoring photos.
Maybe you were composing with your subconscious ... something to do with your username perhaps ...
"An interview with Simplicianus, the future successor of St. Ambrose, who told Augustine the story of the conversion of the celebrated neo-Platonic rhetorician, Victorinus (Confessions, VIII, i, ii), prepared the way for the grand stroke of grace which, at the age of thirty-three, smote him to the ground in the garden at Milan (September, 386)."
An interesting take on the challenge - it doesn't shout "complex" exactly, but close enough. Black and white is well printed. Unusual to say the least.
I don't know why but this look contrived to me. It just does not bring out the true laborer. Good photo though and of course, it is just one guys opinion. Good luck.
Ok, wow. This made me stop to look at it longer. Very unique. I'm not sure what it is exactly. Is it blood on the person? I usually hate grain in photos, but I really like the way it's done here. The tones and textures in this shot are great. Altogether still very mysterious feeling. I'll be interested to see what other people see in this image, and what the photog's vision is.
Taking a break from a killer day :) The B&W works well, the graininess also comes over okay for me. It's a little gruesome though which usually doesn't work so well in DPC so I will be interested in seeing how this ends up. Also the tie to complexity might be a little too vague here.
