Last day, 12 hours to roll-over and dropping, dropping. I held a tiny violin, occasionally touching a 6, through most of the voting and had hopes of climbing at the end, but it was not to be. The last couple of days have not been kind and this just fell to 5.6x. I still like it, though, both for the challenge and independently.
The image was inspired by American Gothic, the classic painting by Grant Wood - hence the suit coat with overalls and the serious expression. But . . . the farmer had to be on a road for the challenge and he didn't have a collar-less shirt and he needed to hold the pitchfork away from his body so it would show and he wanted to wear the hat and he was much too young for the role and . . . and . . .
Anyway, those are his overalls and yes, they are clean because he went inside and changed into them just for me (the shoot itself was impromptu - I just went over to borrow the pitchfork) :) And he does live on a farm - 4th generation - which he works a bit (plants corn or soybeans every year); but mostly he works in an office weekdays and spends time with his family evenings and weekends.
A big thank you to everyone who did enjoy this, especially those who took the time to encourage me with comments.

I wonder if you went out and got those overalls just for the shoot, bc they look quite new, nevertheless probably worth it for the ribbon you'll be receiving. Well done!
yep, he's holding a fork in the road. nice composition. need greater separation of the subject from the background. the contrast looks pretty good - maybe by lightly blurring the background. a different perspective could also make the "S" in the road more interesting
