The mornings here in Katoomba are pretty good, you often get clouds in the valley during sunrise which is always nice. Tends to last a few hours, but is always best just as the sun breaks so that the light rakes across nicely.
Editing in Photoshop:
1. HDR Tone mapped using Photomatix
2. USM with big radius to add "pop" - big difference, am starting to use it more and more (using a smart filter on base layer)
3. Curves to darken the mountains on the left
4. Curves to darken foreground trees
5. Curves to darken sky with a gradient
6. Selective High pass filter sharpening of the mountains on the right to get a little more detail in them
7. Colour balance, and adjust highlights towards yellow for a more sunrisey feel
I do wish I did a little more noise reduction, but couldn't get it quite the way I wanted... Shot @ ISO 100, so I'm not sure why its turned out so noisy after the tone map... Also decided to leave the flare in... thought it added a nice touch

You have to love the Three Sisters on a foggy autumn morning. I'm voting on your image in the airport at Los Angeles waiting for my plane and this has made me even more homesick. Lovely image.
