Photographer’s Notes I am sure this has happened to you. You look at something you’ve seen a hundred times before … and see it differently than you ever have. Maybe it’s in an unusual light. Maybe it’s from an unaccustomed angle. And you say to yourself, “I want to photograph that!”
That was the inspiration for this.
I showed it to my wife and her response was, “Why are you taking a picture of a faucet?” And her tone implied I was a number of f/stops short of proper exposure.
This is not a good sign because she has a good artistic sense. It’s often symptomatic I have lost perspective about a photo. And maybe I have because I sure like this!
You decide, okay?
Post Challenge Well, it was just a stupid faucet, but honestly hoped it would score better. Oh well.
Thank you for the explanation, that's a very useful technique to know in the future! I think you did a great job with this ordinary subject. Wonderfully photographed and underappreciated in my view.

How you did this without getting hotspots on the chrome, I'd love to know. Very nicely controlled lighting!!
Shot with natural light from an adjacent window. Put a piece of printer paper between the window and the faucet too block the hotspots. Works like a charm.
I love the tones here and the grain works well. The brand name bothers me and I would have lost it - but maybe you couldn't in Advanced. I like this a lot. Voted earlier, back to comment.
