Actually it is toned with purple (shadows) and yellow (lights)

Oh, yeah.

Bird of paradise are fun to work with because of the interesting shapes and colors. This is about as good as it gets. Beautiful line and shape, a B&W conversion that nails the full range of tones, then toning it with just the right amount of brown. Fantastic.

Congratulations on 6th. This is one of those images which stayed with me long after viewing. Not only are the tones really beautiful, but they are so unexpected, so unfamiliar, that the forms are brought to my attention as never before.

Usually I am so focused on the colors of these flowers that I don't pay enough attention to the structure. They look even more birdlime in B&W.
