My father is a very talented man. When I was younger he was involved in many artsy things. He did leather work and painted. This is a close up of one of his paintings that he did in 1970. I call it his flower stage because ever thing he painted had these flowers in it. The way he painted them they looked like mums with technique he used. I made a diptych of the same photo. Just rotated the right one 180 degrees. To me they look like different textures. Do you see it?
It is amazing how our brain perceives light and shadow. Even though I know the paint edge is raised the left image looks recessed and I can’t get my brain to believe it’s raised. Fascinating image!
I see it, and a nice subject to use for this effect. Also well photographed. It must be our eyes that expect the lighting to be the same left and right, and therefore interpret the same picture in a different way.
It looks more like you shot an object from the front and the back. It's crazy that you just rotated the image. I love the colors and the textures. Works well as a diptych. A bit of happiness and warmth in the cold of winter.
Wow, that's crazy. On the left, it looks like the paint strokes are coming out of the canvas. On the right, it looks like they're going into the canvas. What a crazy illusion.
