I was looking for some historical photos of my hometown and stumbled across a collection of public domain photos at the Library of Congress website. Picked a few of them and had them printed at 4" x 6". A few of the locations I was unable to get to to recreate the the original shot but this one was accessible and fairly easy to locate as well.
The photo was too big and covered up the whole scene. First I tried to fold the edge over to make it smaller but with the back lighting from the sun it showed through the photograph. So I elected to tear off the edges to make it smaller.
It may be hard to tell but there is a train going over the bridge on the old photograph. The tracks are still being used today however no train showed up while I was shooting. As I am walking back to the car, only 5 minutes after this shot a freight train comes rolling by. So much for timing.
