Yep, I know...boats, boats, and more boats. Seems I've taken nothing but boats these last couple of months. This bay is just so photogenic, I just seem to get drawn back whenever the winds are extra calm. This was taken on the same day that I shot the Color Burst and Left Foot entries. For this one, I was trying to duplicate this shot that I took back in April. The water isn't as still in the Jan FS as the shot in April but I really liked how the light turned out.
I guess this shot will end my boat series for now so you won't have to put up with more boat shots from me...until the next time the winds are really calm that is. ;)
Thanks everyone for all the votes and comments.

I guess I should be tired of this scene - but I'm not. It's gorgeous and beautifully nuanced by the ever changing light, sky and colors. Congratulations on the ribbon.
Congrats on your Yellow, well deserved. And amazing you managed to score 7+ despite those 1's, 2's and 3's. Really says something about the quality of your image.
This is a new comment series for me, so please bear with me while I find my style!

This is one of my 9s - I like it a lot. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. Mainly, I think that there is a glut of landscapes/waterscapes in DPC Free Studies and mostly I find them a bit dull. Occasionally though, some are soooo well done that they elevated themselves and the genre to hit the sweet spot in my brain. This is one of those.
2. What gorgeous colours - would have been easy to boost the saturation and pull out the yellow on that third boat - instead you've shown great and sympathetic restraint, pulling out the natural coloration that gives a great sense of realism.
3. The boats offer a great sense of perspective and depth leading the eye into the image.
4. Your clarity is superb - sharp but not too sharp, quite difficult to pull off with re-sized, re-compressed jpegs.
