A bit stuck for inspiration on this one - until I spotted the Jelly Babies left over from Xmas.
Not expecting great things but if it makes someone smile it's done it's job.
Lit from behind by a halogen desk lamp with some white card bouncing light back into the front.

I like your idea here... the contrasts are pretty cool. I think it was an interesting idea, that a couple of other people had, but it shows something more because they are kind of in the shape of people. It could almost be a statement on racial politics... maybe There are some things I might have liked to have seen differently for this shot. My most glaring thing I see is that you shot these little guys from an upward angle... I think it would have been neater if you would have gotten down slightly below their level and shot up, giving them a bigger more real look. Your lighting makes this shot interesting because of all the shadows and I like the way you have each of them angled slightly differently... might have been interesting also to have the black ones all straight in lines, and the red one kind of looking at them... wishing like he could join the group or something. Hehehe.... just an idea. Although I like what you tried to do with your lighting I think the end result made the photo look a little flat instead of 3-d. Also the glaring backs of some of their heads is slightly bothersome as well. Personally I don't care for the composition. I see what you tried to do with the open space, but I think this photo would have been better filling the screen more, and really working with your materials. Overall the idea was there, I like the concept of stranger you used, and you did it efficiently. I think this would be a really neat shot, if you tried reshooting it... maybe just at a slightly different angle. This shot did bring a smile to my face though :-) Thanks for that! Good luck in future challenges!
I'm usually not a big fan of set up shots like this, but this one is lots of fun. Focus and DOF are great. Lighting is very good. The fact that the small figures are smiling adds a touch of warmth and humanity to it. (Going a little deep there for a few candies). Nice job... I'm giving it an 8.

I really like this shot... great lighting and subject matter... definately a strange something... a strange place? yea I suppose you can make an argument for that... :o) there is a little dust on the surface just behind the figures... clean that out and perfection! great job though!
Very good interpretation of the challenge. It think it's a petty that the detail of the red jelly is kinda lost, probably because it's a little over-exposed. Stilll one of my favorites though.
I like this...however, the shadow cast in front of the lighter colored candy is a distraction especially when this is the main subject of your image. GL!
I like these little guys. It's too bad that their heads are a little blown out from the overhead light. I know it gives a feel of a spaceship above, but it tends to distract my eye due to the contrast between it and the black background.
