Shot at The Louvre. My wife, youngest son, and I took a trip in UK/France in June.
The day we went to the Louve, it was pouring, so I left my DSLR at the hotel and tried to make do with our little walk around P&S. My son wanted a picture with Winged Victory and the crowds were nuts because of the bad weather. My wife and I decided to try this shot, with him standing still and having all the crowds move about. I wasn't convinced it would work with my little P&S, but it did pretty well!
And it was no miracle that the stairs cleared....we had our son wait in that position for the moment to appear....
You produced an impressive shot. I know the place very well on cold, hot , humid or rainy weather and photographed it also and therefore take the hat off to you!
Outstanding image, looks like you had control over everything - light, shutter, crowd - even with the P&S. I also love the PP choices here, especially the texture in the background.
I love how you used the shutter speed to create some movement which isolates your son very well. Also increasing the brightness in the areas you did puts the focal point on him and the statue!
Just kidding. Cool that he wanted this and it's very effective. I love the tourist tumult around him and the way you have processed this so he's both a part of and separate from the scene. She's magnificently displayed, isn't she?
eta I am working on a laptop this morning which makes it awkward to see other comments before I post - but I do scroll down and read them after. Fun to see that we were all struck by the same thing - you definitely succeeded.
