 My cousin's wife had a three-month stint teaching English at a college on the other side of Tokyo. She came up for a visit and I took her to Lake Chuzenji and the Nikko Toshogu. These were souvenirs on sale at Kegon Falls, various handmade animals with moving aprts.

The "moving parts" look a bit like small bones, which is slightly disconcerting (though I suspect it is really bamboo?).
