A spectacular 10/25/12 morning in the park, after the overnight snow. Perfectly quiet air and floating clouds around the peak.

55mm lens focal length
0.9 graduated ND filter

A better size here: Drifting among the Peaks

For the record, it was indeed perfectly silent when I captured this image. There was no wind and the newly fallen snow dampened all sounds. It was serenely peaceful.

Doesn't seem oversharpened to me. Looks just like I saw with my eyes.

At 19 votes, the average vote was 5.1579 . There were some very low early votes. I don't know why.

Thanks, Estes Park News, for publishing my October 25, 2012 photo as the centerfold of your November 2, 2012 edition.

Wow! Five hate votes of "1". I ask the SC to look into what appears to be group voting.

i was one of your 10's looks perfect to me and eerily silent i love the high mountains after fresh snow, there definetly seems a trait to look for the worst in a picture on DPC rather than the best, trees look fine to me on a brand new 27" imac screen

Excellent work Richard. Commentators gave 8 average.
Those troll votes drive me insane too as it does seriously affect one's final placement.

So beautiful. I would love to be there to hear the silence. I can only imagine how good that would be.

Nice landscape - low-lying clouds and a mountain backdrop always work well together. I like the light dusting of snow in the foreground. Voted earlier.
