This shot holds little appeal for me I'm afraid. The subject has her back turned on the viewer which immediately puts up a barrier. This coupled with the railing and quite a bland, colourless scene beyond renders the shot quite inert.
If she had been standing turned 3/4 of the way towards us looking out to the water's edge beyond it would have led the eye into the shot. You had some quite bright light here so I would have stopped down a bit to around f6-8, focused 2/3 out thus attaining some richer tones and longer DOF. At the moment all we have to look at is her well focused back!
I think Boat house row is the more imporant part of this picture so it might help to focus on the boat houses instead of the person in the foreground. I lager DOF shot might have actull allowed for both to be in focus.
Beautiful shot, the girl has made this into something special, yet she is not the whole focus of the photo. Love it. Reminds me of a photo of a beautiful girl leaning on a railing just like this .... as the porche driver gets distracted and crashes over the edge LOL
Man, I can't get past how her shoulder blades are placed... looks like she's a contortionist or something. The eyes are drawn to them, which is most likely not the intention of your image.
philadelphia, a paradise?!? are you on john street's payroll? just kidding. my wife and i lived in manyunk for a couple years, and boathouse row has always been one of our favorite views. nice capture.
I really like what you're trying to do in this photo, but since you're going for a travel guide shot it might be better to focus on the scenery and not on the woman. Regardless, this is still a nice shot.
