I know what the author was going for, but there is too much space to properly pull off. A lot closer on the weathered stump with some background would have made this an outstanding photo.

I really like the echo of the big and little stumps. Perhaps getting lower and/or closer with a wide angle lens could have empasized this even more. THe horizon may be a little tilted.
