Very happy with the scoring, right now at a 6.76. Had I not got my first 7 a few weeks ago, this would be in personal best territory...

Figure it will be top 10, perhaps top 5. Doubtful to ribbon with all the more artistic entries out there.

Spoonman was a Christmas gift from my sister-in-law and family last year... it's actually a salt and pepper shaker holder and one of the coolest gifts we've ever gotten. He stands about a foot tall. A variation on him can be had here: Spoonman

The dish, if anyone cares, is the last remaining plate/saucer from my family dinnerware when I was a kid. It's a nice green color and was always my favorite.

My original idea was a variation on Humpty Dumpty that I did years ago... however, I'm glad I didn't as someone else did HD and people here like to penalize if you're not unique. I had taken an egg out of the fridge and set it on the counter next to Spoonman to come to room temperature when this idea came to me.

This was all done very last minute. Shot was taken about 90 minutes before rollover. Well, many many shots. Then about 60 minutes before rollover I realized it was Expert Editing. I almost bailed completely because of that. I tried my street with my iPhone to use as a background, but figured it would come out cheesy.

In the end it's just pretty normal processing with some cloned out background (seam between two sheets of poster board) and tinting to blue on blue. The only real Expert mode I used was to create motion blur, mask it off and then paint in the blur a little more cleanly.

Anyway, wherever it ends up, thanks everyone for the kind words and votes.

OK, so just finished voting myself on the other 40 entries... Gave 3 9s and 3 8s, all of which will fare better than this one...

So bound to be a very high scoring challenge.

Given some great shots that I had to -3 for DNMC (that others will not so penalize and will thus score well), I will be truly surprised to see this in the top 10. Still climbing though, but at a 6.79 right now, I don't think 7 is in reach and the top ones will be well beyond that.

Great job on putting together "spoonman" - I like the hands and feet especially:-) The diagonal angle of the composition's subjects adds visual interest and holds the eye's attention - had it been straight on it would not have been as interesting. I do like how the dish is ready to 'exit stage right' for that invokes the idea of motion. The slight blur on the main subject's also give the viewer a sense of motion which plays into the action in the rhyme 'dish ran away with the spoon'. My one big critique on the composition as a whole is that I wish the backdrop was not so sparse and stark - it calls out for something in the backdrop.

Hands down, the best entry in the lot. Coming from me means you'll be out of the ribbons.
Simplistic, matches the title perfectly, not over processed, has all the elements going for it I like. For bonus, it was highly creative. I really hope this cracks the ribbons.
