 This image is about detail, texture and lighting. Taken during a test shoot for a Young Athletes project I'm working on:

This is a quick test shot, prior to setting a third light.

Lighting is 2x3 softbox camera right, and 48" octo just over the camera. Miles was just slightly off his mark, as shown by the shadows.

The grey background works so well with this shot. IMO much better than a typical blown-to-white background.
