I really like the image, but don't understand the metaphor.
I think getting a tad more green in down low could have been good, to give this image 3 different layer... green, yellow, and purple.
I'd also clone out the white vertical sticks on the right.

I'm confused. The title and the image don't seem to have any connection. I'm really looking for that last tree, but there are too many to count. Maybe you meant the last 100 or so trees?
