The idea came to me right away, and I shot it, thinking I had all this time to edit. I processed the basics and then got distracted, then went to Easter dinner, then remembered I was going to the desert and wouldn't be back before rollover. So I had just a couple of hours to edit this.
Fortunately it went quite smoothly. The hardest part was getting it to look "grungy" enough without losing light and detail. I have no idea if I succeeded, but I like the result. And it turns out, I WILL be back before rollover...
Shot a ton of images of myself, ended up just using one, plus a bit of cloning from the hair of another image, and the right hand from another. Shot about 20 different bags and pieces of paper. Took about 3 shots of the room.
About the title: I wanted to make the image about a mental imbalance, rather than someone blowing out the window. I started with Psychic Turbulence (or Mental, or Psychological), but that felt too obvious. I thought how the common vernacular sometimes uses "certifiable" when implying someone is not "right", and that worked for my title too.

The colors really push this into a really unique realm of grunginess.
I also like the metaphor or story we can imagine - not just a dark or morbid scene but a representation of daily life.
