I drove out to Skiatook with the goal of shooting for Sunset in Black & White. By the time I got there, all the pretty puffy clouds had been pushed northeast by the black gloomy clouds. Rather than let a good excursion go to waste, I broke out the SB and tripod and took a few SP's.
Single SB-600 to the front at about a 45 to the model. I wanted her (me) to be illuminated brightly enough to stand out and allow for the gloominess of the storm clouds overhead.
PP, adjust color balance & exposure, some burning/dodging of the clouds, resize, save for web.
(The whole time I was shooting, this song was in my head: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-8IPDR4Khc Teehee!)

This was my favorite image in the contest, the composition, the colors and the lighting setup. How did you do the lighting by the way? Thanks for the effort, it's not that I don't love shots of pickles on a table (that normally win these contests), but I do really enjoy these types of pictures. There is so much work involved, yet it seems to go unnoticed. One requirement to me is, "Would I put this on my wall?", and this clearly meets that! Nice work.
Thanks so much! I used an SB-600 flash (on a stand just off to camera right) triggered by a Pocket Wizard transceiver. I also velcro'd a warm toned gel over the flash to give it a warmer cast and the set the person apart a little more from the background. :o)

The title reinforces the fact that she is content...
Not at all lonely, as the challenge topic and description require.

Thank you for taking the time to comment, LydiaToo. While I agree that the challenge stipulated "loneliness", which indeed has negative connotation, to me, "solitude" also stipulated in the challenge description), is not relegated to sadness or negative connotation. Sometimes an evening spent in your favorite place by yourself is exactly what you need. :O)
This appears to be a peaceful photo... the main thing that is bothering me is that the woman is tilted. I think if she would have been more level, it would have worked better. The lighting works well. ANd I love the detail of the clouds.
