I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I know this is yours Ben but I'm not going to let that stop me from commenting and scoring. I feel like this is a photo within a photo - the man sat peacefully in the chair, perhaps enjoying the light - that whole quadrant of the image self contained... then we move our eye outwards and the context changes - the darkness has us and the figure on the right take on an ominous presence suggestive of endangerment of the peaceful guy. It's like we're seeing something we shouldn't - a glimpse of a dark sub-strata of life that normally live at the periphery (even blind spot) of or perception and vision.
This is refreshing! Has a film noir feel and I love that silhouette of a man on the right. Reminds me of Hitchcock making an appearance in one of his movies. Thanks
Now this is an interesting shot. I like the negative space here and feel it adds a bit of interests with the lighting and shadows. I like how you can stop and look at this one a while...
