I am so pleased with my new Olympus E-20. (Are you sick of hearing it yet!?) ;o) Anyway, just posted my 4th Fireworks pictures on my website! First time I've ever done fireworks - and was glad for the capability! It was also my first time watching them in Wakefield, so I wasn't sure of the best place to set up...now I know for next year, but I'm still pleased with the photos! Click on my XTRAS link below!
I like those shots too, Karen. Looks like you found a pretty good spot. I've found that sometimes it's best to get away from all the action, less twits bump your tripod that way, and with your new toy you have the lens to do it.
Thanks for looking at the pics! That was my favorite, too Swash'. Shey', yeah, you are right, and actually I picked that spot to be more to the side to protect the camera/tripod, but expected the show to be directly infront of me more over the center of the lake. Instead, the fireworks were set off further right, so the tree ended up in my way! Rats. Had to move over a bit, but people were nice about it. One thing; I had practiced with the remote control to fire the shots, and it worked fine. But, when it came time for the fireworks, I could not get it to work, and had to resort to the shutter button. Tried to not let it shake, but a lot of shots were lost because of it. Don't know what happened, except maybe I was on the wrong angle to the laser since I had to move...? Ah well, had fun. Glad you liked the pics.
hey liked the fire work pics. i took some last night too with the e10 in dc .. a few spectacular shots but i didnt take the tripod so a lot were lost to hand holding .. ill put em up when i get a chance!
k, here they are : ) .. as i said, handheld and so most are a little blurred : P , but hopefully they may still be of some interest.
in spite of the cataclysmic fieryness of the pics, the colors appeared in this instance more vivid to my eye than they came out on camera, esp the blues.
Kollin! Phenomenal! Esp. for handheld! My hat is off to you! What a display, and captured beautifully. I have a few favorites...#40, 41, 43, 45, 50... What setting did you use? I used an 8 sec. shutter speed, so when the grand finale came, it totally washed out and over exposed. Will have to look it up, but I think I used f4 (not certain now).
Can you get a freaking site that doesn't have 6 million freaking popups?!!!!!!

Sorry. The redirect URL from V3.com I have does that, not the Homestead Website account. I think more ads pop up for others than for me. I have already put out my business cards and brochures for my portfolio site using the V3 address that cloaks the much longer homestead address and can be transferred to any site I choose. When I can afford it, I will pay for the V3 redirect and the ads and banners can be removed. I know it's a pain, but it's purely economics, and where people are used to finding my site.
Here are some of my 4th fireworks pictures. It was my first attempt at such an endeavor, and I kinda liked them. The trees are in the way because we were about a mile away from where they were being shot. In the mountains, that means there can be a lot of barriers. :-)

those are nice! I am glad that you did these this way... I get weary of seeing the extremely long exposures that contain the whole show in one shot :) Good work!
