Once again, my weakness for trying to include too much in a photo does me in. I KNEW I should have cropped that left branch out, but it was just SO crisply focused, and so interesting, that I left it in. When will I learn?

A bit of a self-serving bump, but I didn't think anyone would mind since there's not much conversation right now.
The main thing I was hoping to find out is whether the recrop in my outtakes "fixes" the concerns folks had with my photo. I kinda think it looks better, but I'm too close to see objectively any more.

actually, looking at the different crops, i think i like your submission best :) alternatively, the long narrow one is my 2nd favorite. either way, i just love how the ice looks like its been put together from tiny little pieces ...
I also liked the submitted version best, but they are all really nice. It seems cruel of me, but I wish we had freezing rain here, but it doesn't happen here very often.

That's an interesting point. A lot of folks thought the ice was cracked. That's actually how the ice is formed as freezing rain droplets fall and instantly harden on the twig. Pretty cool, huh?

LOL! At about the 30th hour with no power, my surroundings were about all I had to pay attention to! (I can't complain. I have coworkers that were w/out power more than a week later.)
