Go to the image itself (assuming this is on DPC). In the URL, you'll see a number at the very end of the URL. Copy that. Click the imgthumbnail button when you're making a new post (it's the second on the right next to "message:)and paste the number in there.
A lot of little things did you in. The perspective is a little off-setting, there are exposure issues, the image is a little busy, subtle symbolism is something that is usually lost when a photo needs to rely on in-your-face power (sad or not, the fact is that most people aren't spending a lot of time viewing an image. Especially one that doesn't jump on you right away). These things add up for most people to just hit the usual 4/5/6 NEXT! button, and you end up where you end up.
I have good news for you though. Because of the lack of a high number of anomalous 1/2/3 votes, I can almost put money down that the religious aspect didn't hurt you at all.
I liked the overall photo, I't was the contrast between the shadow of the window frame and the almost burnt whiteness of the page that brought it from a 8 to a 5. That was the only flaw(?) I could find. But hey whad I know.....LOL

The button you referenced is the DPC-hosted "Insert Thumbnail" one, which is correct one to use.
The "Insert Image" button is two more over to the left, after the "URL" button, and is used to insert a hot-linked image hosted elsewhere. (Remember not to do this if the image is over 500 pixels wide!)
Pictures of bibles, crosses, rosaries, candles, statues of Mary, bloody hands, spikes through human flesh and the like will usually garner a low score from me. I'm one of those buggers who does vote religious imagery low (except for this and this) because they are usually so uninspired and unimaginative (and sometimes offensive). Subject matters to me.
A lot of people don't read the titles, they just vote on the image. When I look at the image I see a slightly out of focus person, reading a book that is about one third blown highlights, and has been partially cropped out of the image. The background is a window and an exterior deck slightly out of focus with a lot of complex shadows and some lovely light.
Only when I read the title does the muntin shadow become a cross, and the book becomes a bible. If you had pared down the visual elements to just the book, and the hands and the shadow, it would have been a stronger shot, and I have learned through bitter, bitter tears, if you need the title to get your point across, you need to hone the image further.

Fortunately, not everyone has a personal axe to grind / chip on their shoulder that they take out on challenge entries. Whatever passes for therapy, I guess.

I can see where you are coming from with this. I think if you want to do religion you need to do it well. Often see just images of bland basic statues and they are really boring and if this is a statement you are making - it's not working.

Agreed. But that's not what Louis is referring to, otherwise he could have simply said he votes boring, unimaginative images low. That said, he is entitled to his subjectivity, as are we all.

Well, so am I. I may have an axe to grind and I may be the ultimate curmudgeon and I may be the world's worst person because of it (not to mention prone to hyperbole -- and my mother wears army boots), but it is about quality, and it just so happens that my favourite whipping boy does not seem to inspire the best in people unless they happen to be called De Sousa.
