The challenge dates overlap by 5 days ... it's perfectly possible to use photos from the same project or even shoot for two challenges, as long as it's not one photo.
My photo for Abstract was a possible entry for Rust (as at least one commenter noted). They were taken on the same day within three feet of each other.
