I'm going to Montreal in May for a week's vacation, staying in Old Montreal. I can't wait, I've never been there before. So show me what I can expect to photograph while I'm there.
No photos of Montreal, but check out the Biodome and Mont Morency. Biodome has lots to shoot, even a huge underwater aquarium. Mont Morency falls are higher than Niagara, with a cool village at the top. Do a google search to find out more.
Oh and you will love the old city! I should really try to plan a shoot there. Have fun!

I'll definitely check out the Biodome. Montmorency Falls are a bit too far away, though, they're near Quebec City, not Montreal. I was in Quebec City in 2000 but sadly did not get to see the falls.
Dudski your photos are amazing! Unfortunately I don't have a wide angle lens, but I wish I did. I have a feeling that's what I'm going to ask for next Christmas.

Don't forget that you can stitch together two or more frames to achieve a wide-angle/panoramic result. I use the free version of AutoStitch which can join pictures both horizontally and vertically.

don't worry, there is plenty to shoot witout a wide-angle here in good ol' Montreal.. BUT, if you bring along a Nikon I could lend you some lenses as I work right next to Old Montreal ;)

Yep, I've used autostitch before, it's a good program. Not quite the same as a wide angle lens though. :)
You'll be in town for the butterfly exposition where hundreds of butterflies are let go for our viewing pleasure at the botanical gardens. If you come before April 25th. I went last week, great feeling of seeing them fly around you freely. Wear something colourful and you'll attract them. Or don't if you want to be left alone to take photos. I didn't get many good shots that day because I was shooting for the Stop Motion challenge and had a crazy idea of catching a butterfly in mid flight with no flash, just my 105mm 2.8 and high use of ISO. I failed miserably. Here's an unworked shot of a stationary one.
The Insectarium is a splendid place to visit if you've never been to an insect museum, great opps for photos here because most of the bugs are on display in a deep sleep. :) Lots of stuff happening there with different expositions every week/day.
Got this guy there two weeks ago. He doesn't move much but is a fascinating creature to look at.

I won't be there until May so I'll miss the butterflies. There's actually a fairly big insectarium in my home town in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, the biggest one in Canada east of Montreal. I'll be making a day trip out of that and the Botanical Gardens for sure.
