Hi! I'm having some trouble trying to fix an old picture for a friend, i have no experience in that but i really want to help her. It's a family old photo wich is starting to loose its colors and even some pieces. Should i use a plugin for that or i should start cloning pixel by pixel in a huge photo?

I really hope someone can give me some tips so i can do this. The size of the original file is 11807x9341 pixels and 21,0 MB.
So..what do i need to know and try?
That photo is actually in pretty good shape. Assuming you have a good high resolution scan of the print, it looks to me like about 15-30 minutes of work to get it looking good again.
You *do* want to do the replacement of the damaged areas manually. There is no automated process that can substitute for good manual retouching. This shot really doesn't need that much.
i was just gonna say, this photo actually looks alright the way it is. The scratches and chips look to be in pretty uniform areas (the most noticeable of which is the girls leg in the lower left) which makes it easier to clone bits from.
It could be a lot worse anyway :) You might want to boost the contrast etc, but then you lose the loveliness that makes it look like film.

The big problem is that i can't clone that fast (i can't understand why)...maybe i'm not using it right. :/
And the fullsized photo is really worse than this one. With 20MB i can see a lot of white spots all over the image. A LOT!

Looks good. The water could be toned down a little; to me it seem to blue. The woman on the right side; her hair (on the left top) looks sharp. I may need a very little blur to make it blend with the water.
