just wondering weather this would of been any good in the fine art challenge, i used another one which i thought would do good, but it didn't, how well do you think this would of done, just wanting some feedback thanks :)
I'm no expert in fine art, but I would have probably rated this one a few points lower than your actual entry (lighting). Mainly due to the bird not being sharp enough. I think if the brid as was sharp as the object he jumped from, it would have been more pleasing to my eyes.
I actually like the oof bird, however, having the swingset in focus makes it look like a metering mistake. I would have cropped out the swingset and just had the oof bird with the cool oof background.
Hmm, I can get behind what vawendy says. I think it is the swingset being in focus that throws me off, and makes me see the bird as an error. Without the swingset, I may have felt different.
The bird's kind of neat, but your entry was definitely one of my favourites. It's a beautiful image, and if I ruled the site, it would have gotten a ribbon.

A couple are driving along in their pickup and the gal looks to the guy and says, "we used to sit close together. We never do that anymore!" The guy looked and her and replied, "I wasn't the one that moved."
Comment: The choice of focus/shutter speed does, IMO, not fulfill to the inherent demands of the image. All the dynamics are with the starling, yet the tip of the swing set is set up to dominate both our attention and 100% of the dof. This together with the inexplicably large space allotted the bokeh erodes any other point(s) of interest.
As a fine art entry, the photo holds no particular interest beyond these somewhat obvious givens.
