I got a call from Americas Funniest Home Videos on Monday. Seems some young 16 yr old has submitted a video to them in which she has my image ... ... up on a computer monitor, with her own pug sitting on the chair with his front paws on the computer desk, and he is looking at my pugs pic. Then in the back ground you hear her yell "Frank, how many times have I told you that you are not allowed to look at porn?" That's the entire video clip. She was up front with them when she submitted the video in letting them know the image on the monitor is one she found on the internet, where she found it, and who it belonged to. So, they call me to get permission for the video to be aired on their show since it has an image in it that belongs to me. My reaction at first was that the girl should have first asked me to use it and she had not, and that the image has a contract with Avanti Press for greeting cards and I was not sure if they would constitute the use of it in the video as breaking the exclusive rights contract. AFHV contacted Avanti, who said as long as the image was not being used in he greeting card industry, and was not one of their edits, they had no qualms about it. So Tuesday I got another call. They told me about their contact with Avanti, and this time offered me $500 to allow the video to air. They sent me the clip to review also. The photo is of my original as seen here on DPC. I doubt the video will win any money on the show as it is so short and although cute, not hystercally funny. It will however get me another $500 profit and be seen nationally. :) I do not know when they will air it yet - I'll be trying to find out though.

How'd you get the contract with a card company for the image, if you don't mind saying? I'd like to do that with a couple of my shots.
Lydia, Avanti Press has 'scouts' that browse the internet looking for photos they like, then they share them with the buyers. If the buyer likes them then they contact you. They found Puppy Love by seeing it here on DPC.
So - note to those who think this site is only about an online ribbon....it's way more. It's a place that is being watched by companies who offer cash and contracts.

no joke, i just joined dpc in january so i have not seen that pic before on this site....BUT... after reading this forum, i had to run into the bedroom and check...and yes..that was the valentine's day card i bought for my boyfriend this year!! i love pugs, and i loved this card.... i love it even more now knowing it was from someone on this site. nice job, and congrat on the AFV!

That's so cool! I hope your BF liked the card too. Avanti says it is still one of their top sellers in the humorous romantic category. If it stays that way then next year they will renew my contract with them for another 5 years, thus another $2500
