I was really likin' the way it looked on the drive, so I thought I'd just grab my camera and shoot out the windshield and see what I got. I really wasn't prepared for the effect that the wide angle gave with the camera pointed off to the right just a tad. I love it that the tree, road, and straight on view is so crisp, but that blur off on the right is freakin' COOL, eh what????

BTW, you don't actually LOOK through the camera, you just kinda hold it up to the dash and shoot it out the windshield!

Oh well that makes more sense. I sure didnt want to get a dui trying get a shot like that.
With practice it's even possible to shoot panoramas while keeping one's eyes on the road at all times. I also try to wait until there are no other cars in the immediate vicinity.

how about stop the car for a minute or so. If something is that good , it would be worth stopping car.
I wonder how much photographic quality glass for your windshield would cost?
I dunno, but the UV coatings on most modern windshields affect the image. I've noticed that before trying to shoot through it when I pull over. I usually try NOT to shoot through the windshield.
The only saving grace for my image in the original post was that it was 5:15, and there was virtually no actual daylight left. The sun had gone down, it was overcast, and the majority of the light was from the snow reflecting the twilight.
The weirdness will be really extreme if you are using a polarizer. But then again... most any shot while driving isn't really planned so... uh... good luck planning for the unplanned...
