Pretty darn ingenious. What he's done, in essence, is to project an infrared laser spot at his point of focus. If something flies through the point of focus, he *very* rapidly opens the external shutter and fires the flash. His lag time is 7 milliseconds, about 8 to 10 times less than the shutter lag on an SLR. Controlling the lag is why he's using the external shutter. |
