I had a local supplier for those somewhat clear/frosted envelope/slips to put photo orders in to deliver. However they informed me they aren't carrying them anymore. Of course its right after I ran out of them and shot a T&I event. Can someone point me to a place online I can order them in sizes 8x10, 5x7 and Wallet sizes fairly reasonable? I need to get some here by end of this week if possible. Thanks
No I'm sure you have seen them. When you order prints from a printing service they come in either clear of frosted white slips that are sized to the print, I will see if I can find a stray one to photo, I guess I could use a Poly bag of some sort as well. I had a local company that carried them, but they didn't sell a lot of them so they quit carrying them and will only special order in very large quantities.
The Glassine sleeves are what I was referring too, however they only carried three sizes. So I ordered the most common one of those, and ordered some of the bags as well for 8x10 size. I'll call them this week to find out if they carry all three sizes I need and get them ordered. For now what I ordered will take care of this T&I event and I will know where to get them next time. Thanks for the input and help.

I'm looking for those 9x12 window envelopes (needs to fit an 8x10, and smaller prints) that photographers use to distribute photo packages to clients. I've searched various retailers (using online websites) and haven't found what I need. Tried various search terms, etc...
I thought I might even be able to find something like this at places like Staples or Office Depot.
i go a completely different route...actually a green route ;-)
i simply recycle the envelopes that my lab uses to deliver the prints to me. i print avery labels that have my customer's name and my logo and return address and put that on the envelope. and i let my customers know that i'm doing that to save them from having to pay for my getting fancy envelopes and to save a tree or two.

Well, if I had a backlog of those then that's what I'd consider also for sure. :-) Hmmm....maybe I should see how this order gets delivered. I pushed one batch thru (my son's) so I could double-check the color and any gotcha's I may have overlooked before ordering the rest of them. I may end up with some envelopes to use, but I doubt it will be the 18 I need.
Find out soon enough I guess...but I'd still like to know where I can actually buy some envelopes for delivery in case I need them. :-)

a couple thoughts:
1) every order i get goes to my lab as a separate order; that way i have an envelope and cardboard for each order. (by the same token, since i have free shipping from my lab, it's not like i'm picking up any extra cost by doing it this way.)
and 2) i have a box each of 6x9 and 9x12 manila envelopes - just like the ones that come from the lab. again, my clients are more interested in paying for what's in the envelope than the envelope itself. even if i was primarily a portrait/wedding photographer, i'd try to find some way to sell my clients on the content rather than the packaging...

I unearthed this thread because I will occasionally need to send prints to clients via Canada Post, always a frightening proposition at best. I'm sure that if you DO stamp on the envelope, 'DO NOT FOLD/BEND/SPINDLE OR MUTILATE' good ol CanPost will make sure they do just that :-/
I pick up my prints from the lab (no free shipping) so I don't get the cardboard shims, just the envelope.
So is there a source for inexpensive, strong but lightweight shims to put in envelopes? I could always just get some cardboard boxes from the local big box store and xacto them to size, but that would like kinda cheesy imho.
