I really love the image, very cool indeed. But as far as the card I think it could use some help. And this is just my opinion I am not a business card specialist or anything. But I will share my experience with you.
First I think it has too much text. If you have your services listed on your website no need to have them on your card. So what I would do is remove all the text except your name. I would also try to find a company that will print on the back so if you want the info on there it doesn't make the card look to "busy"
Where it says "photography by" is that scriptania? Get rid of that. The font and the "photography by" Way to many people offer photography. We really have to market ourselves as well. So how about : Joseph Salmi Photographer : Now you have just made your business personal.
I'm ambivalent about the script typeface, but I like that for the rest of the text you've made it large enough to read.
The biggest "problem" I see is with your border -- it will be almost impossible to trim out the cards keeping the narrow border as even as it is in your draft. Printing places like 1/8-1/4" margin, so that if the trim job is off by a couple of points (common) it won't show as readily.
Personally, I've taken to experimenting with cards by printing them (3-up) on regular 4x6 prints and cutting them out by hand -- you can print just a few at a time until you are certain of the design you want. Also, there's nothing like seeing the card on paper to see if there are design flaws ... hope that helps.
It does help, thank you to the both of you. I haven't had much time to work on it as I had hoped but I did make a TON of changes already and I think it looks much better. Give me a few days and I will post the new card.
i don't like the back. the thumb looks ok, but looking at it larger hurts my eyes. i'd rather it have a lower opacity without the blur. also, i think you have two competing messages with the images you've selected. imho ;-)

This company printed 5000 cards front and back for $149.00. The cards came out great but you first have to get past the unprofessional feel about them (the company, not the cards).

:) thanks, I had them printed at a place called "overnightprints". I think I paid about $55 bucks and I got free rounded corners. the down side is they look like crap because the company cut the cards crooked and the rounded corners aren't really rounded. Looks like they cut them with scissors. Anyway I contacted them and they are reprinted the a new box free of charge.

I'm surprised you went with overnight prints, I've heard nothing but doom and gloom from their users about botched colours, cards not cut straight etc etc but whatever, this is immaterial now.

Well the red is the same red on my website so I tried to keep the colors and fonts the same.
As far as overnight prints I didn't know anything about them but the only color I've had so far was the way they were cut. I didn't see a problem with the colors.
And you wouldn't call me because you are a photographer yourself, if you lived in the area and you wanted pictures and knew nothing about them you would call me. :)
