Just curious since I didn't get much in the way of comments during the challenge, what your thoughts on this were. I don't usually do much in the way of set up shots, I'm more of a find something as it already is type. It hung between 5.6 to 5.7 almost the entire challenge then tanked the last day and a half. So what's right and what's wrong with it? Maybe I can learn a few things when it comes to set up stuff. (BTW- these are my daughter & her boyfriend, not "real" models.)
As for my personal view on the subject, there are mainly two things that are confusing:
- the background is too cluttered. It distracts a bit from the action. The curtain, the little square on the floor, etc.
- The tilting of the image. From an image shot from below, probably a straight shot could be more useful.
I like the post processing, I just get a bit stuck on the costume, since that skirt is not the most flattering in that position :P
Anyway, this is more of a personal taste than an artistic comment, but usually the most simple compositions are the best. Many of my shots have tanked because I had too much detail on the background (and on the foreground, for that matter:P)
I gave it a 7, as it was a storyteller shot and obviously done for this challenge. I liked it for what it was, though not technically perfect. The cropping seems a bit too tight and especially with the angle, I think the composition may have come off a bit awkward.

Since this was an advanced challenge, I thought there were a couple of items that (aesthetically speaking) could've been edited/adjusted that weren't. The first was curtain/drapery on left of the image that should've been patched out - as well as the square block next to it. Also, all detail was lost in the woman's skirt creating a large dark mass which really drew my attention away from the scene... and oddly (guiltily), up the skirt/leg of the woman. I do think the Topaz adjustment fits the scene.
I like the crop as there's a lot of mystery in what exactly is her reaction - and state of mind.

I didn't think I could clone out something as big as the curtain. I should have thought to clone out the outlet though. That's the only one like that in the whole house (that's stuck to the floor and not in a wall). I took a bunch of different angles that were probably better, but this one had the best facial expression. I only had my male model for about 10 minutes as he had to leave for work. I guess I won't give up on set up shots altogether though as it was rather fun. LOL! Thanks for the feedback!
Perhaps the "crotch shot" made voters uncomfortable?
Did it make you uncomfortable? I wondered about that, even though it's more suggestion than anything else since nothing but leg is actually visible. My daughter's a little dense sometimes, I asked her to cross her legs but still have the one foot on top of his head and she couldn't figure out how to do it and I ran out of time. ROFL!
