I find myself now required to shoot portraits in their (uncontrolled) environment. (Home, garden, shop, etc.)
In other situations, I've shot single race portraits and been reasonably pleased with the results...regardless of the subject's race. At this job, I'm finding a. I've been given a crappy camera with only an attached flash. b. I'm regularly asked to shoot groups or a couple and their skintones vary widely.
It must be the lighting, but what to change I'm not sure. Either my caucasian is washed out and the african-american looks great or the caucasian is fine and there's an absense of detail on the african-american. could some helpful soul please tell me how to meter or light a mixed group and do justice to all? |
