I've noticed that whichever print company I use, the results are often darker than I see on the screen. Of course, that's because what I see on the screen is transmitted light versus what comes back from the printers which is reflected light. Everything else is fine, colours matching etc. it's the brightness/exposure I've had to play guesswork with.
Now, I've just handed in a shot to a local printers to put onto A2 canvas as a gift. Topaz Denoise saved the day on the enlargement. In LR I clicked the highlights warning box, and pushed the slider as far right as it'd go without clipping too many highlights, then adjusted the blacks back down, and pushed the exposure a bit more.
This tends to result in over-contrasty shots. So, any suggestions as to how to push the exposure slider to the max while still keeping black values in the photo, or... do you just not worry about blacks? |
