It's been a couple of years since I tried my hand at landscapes. A trip to one of the most picturesque parts of Ireland meant I couldn't leave the camera at home.
And... ummmmm... I topazed it, I couldn't resist! So, too much, too little?
I would recommend a tighter crop or lots of dodging of the upper right corner. While I think it is just a darker cloud, it reminds me of those snapshots where people somehow manage to get their finger in the shot. My eye goes straight to it. There's something warm and comforting about the blue in the opposite corner, so don't lose that.
the second image however is beautiful! i love the composition and the subject is clear. nice job.

I really need to develop a better eye for what is interesting in photos... Even when I was doing a quick edit on that second one I found myself examining the patterns in the sand.

That second one is a gazillion times more interesting than the first. Nice work!
Sometimes it's as simple as just getting closer. The second shot shows off the sand nicely as it fills a lot of the frame. The first shot could be good had you gotten closer to something, maybe the birds?
