Well, my first shoot as the Ball Portrait Photographer is behind me. I was so nervous when I accepted the job. I've done promo shots for MMA fighters and shot the fights, but never had to do portraits for people to purchase. I shot everyone who wanted portraits for no money up front. I just gave them an info card where to view their photos. From there, if they liked them, they could purchase. They loved the idea of not having to prepurchase packages they weren't even sure they'd like. Plus the way they only had to order the sizes and quantities they wanted. Plus I even got dinner out of it for my wife and I for free!
I had way more fun then I thought I would. Most people were great to work with but then I had a few where I practically had to manually place every body part.
So far the feedback I have gotten has been wonderful and in the first day after posting I've already made $80.00(still not done with them all, just putting them up as I get done). I shot around 80 couples. Hopfully this will lead to more work like this!
So here is a couple examples. I had a two light set-up, roughly 45 deg angles, about 8' up through brollys. The first portrait has been through Portrait Professional because it was already purchased. I'll only do that with the shots that are purchased. Just smoothing the face a little and sharpenning the eyes. I never mess with the shape of the face. All other processing was done in Light Room 2.
