What is your own favourite image from your portfolio? Perhaps add a few words as to why you like it:
I really like the stark contrast in this image and I like the way that it captures a simple moment - but most of all I like the way the playful boy is counterbalanced by the very ominous figure in the arched window. And one more thing.. I'm loving the no-flash-done-at-6400-ISO goodness!
I'm looking forward to seeing what you choose to showcase from your own portfolio.
My first "advanced" lighting setup, and I really enjoyed doing this shoot. The model is my girlfriend; I love every shoot we do together. Unfortunately we don't have the time to do alot of them, which is very sad but in return make the one we do have time for special. We stole the idea from a photoshoot from Norways Next Top model (what? You guys don't watch those shows? hehe..) which we thought would fit the challenge (Duotones).

So far is my favorite, there are 2 more that I like equally as much but this is so far the newest favorite I have. if you view the how to tutorial I actually didn't like the original at all and was actually considering on deleting it but got a little happy juice in me one night and just started playing with it and it slowly evolved in to the end product that you see there. And Im pleasantly surprised at the amount of favorites I have on it as well :)
Very minimal PP on this. Also it just happened with no planning. The boy was standing there, the ride was spinning, and the sky was deep twilight blue. The camera was on the tripod and he managed to stand still. I like the sharpness and it was one of my first images with my new 17-55mm.
I suppose I like this one because it's my own unique concept, and I was able to create it exactly as I visualized it--something I've seldom been able to accomplish. I also got a ribbon out of the deal, but that was a minor thing compared to being able to execute my vision.
This was one of my earliest entries for DPC, and still one of my favourites. What I am happy with is that when that challenge was announced (Negative Space III), I didnt have a good understanding of what Negative Space was. So, I researched it, and wanted to put a social action theme to the image, so I though of 'Income Gap'. Then, I called a few friends, and set up the shot.
The image above is the re-edit of my original challenge entry, as I had learned so much since the original was shot.
Shot with the little ol Canon Powershot A700. Shot it as one of the guys was grinding something on a car, while my car was being worked on in another bay. I originally shot it as a Candid but soon realized that it would be a better entry for Painting With Light. So there it went, I got a respectable finish and my first ever score over 6!
I'm old. I've seen much. It's only natural that like to look at fewer things that stay fresh. News that stays news.
This, along with a handful of recent images I made, really is a Leica DLux-4 inspired photo. It's a strange thing to say perhaps, but I try to look at the world through point-and-shoot eyes these days.
So this is what you get when you shoot a DSLR/400mm pre-visualized through a little Leica.
Taken late in the afternoon on a cloudless hot day facing towards the sun. Everything you shouldn't do & it was taken with my trusty 300D. I set a new personal best in a Free Study with this.
I like the simplicity of this photo. I was just taking photos in the park on a fall day and took lots of pics of leaves floating in the pond. When I saw this one on the computer I thought it was special....glad that others did too.
Ok, here is mine. I love this for the simplicity of the shot and the moodiness. It was a tough choice between this and another couple. I just keep coming back to this shot.
This would have to be one of my favorites....even though it got Dq'd for not having the original in it's original state...I love this...I worked for hours and hours on this...each leaf was done individually, my computer kept crashing (black screen of death) so I would have to start over and over again...I will say that I got very good a erasing....lol when I look at this I get a very nostalgic feel, this is very typical of Savannah and it's beauty...seems like there is a view like this on just about every corner...
It's a shot from 9 months or so ago and one which i've only recently dug out to look at. For one thing i really enjoy it because it shows how much i've learnt when it comes to processing photos. I really wouldn't have been able to get anywhere near this when i took the photo and actually put it to one side as i thought it was a hopeless case at the time. Now i'm really pleased. It's really getting close to something i really want to do with my photography. I'm not that interested at the moment with getting a 'realistic' image of something. What i see in my head when i take photographs isn't a realistic view at all, rather a slightly unreal, maybe hyper-real idea of the scene. It's hard to explain. I like the dollhouse feel of this image and its on the way to what i want in my photography i guess. In a way, i'm more interested in making photos of what is not there as opposed to what is. If that makes sense!

It was taken during vacation and is a memory of a fun day with family. The little one in the photo whose seen from the back and I had lost the others for about 10 minutes due to the fog. She was so happy to see them start to reappear.
This was from "The Future" Challenge (August of 2003)...a no-holds-barred contest, it was a lot of fun. after 650 Challenges, for me it holds up as a favorite regardless of the score...and regardless of of whether or not I have become a better photographer over the years...lol
