The other building in our practice where the internal medicine docs practice is decorated with my artwork. Apparently plenty of people ask about them and the nurses tell me they have nothing to give them. I decided I needed to come up with a business card. I like this as a first try, but my one issue is the "S E" in Friesen sorta being obscured by the background. I originally had a white text but switch to gold to play on contrasting colors but also to potentially stand out over the sun reflection. Any ideas of how to improve things?
Jenn thinks I should go back to white text. I'm just having a bit of trouble placing things so as to maximize the name standing out.

A suggestion for the time being you can register a domain name and point it to your DPC portfolio or any other place you like... it would just look good to have a website on the card while you are printing them.

I quite like the papyrus font but i don't think it's working well here. I'd get get it off the photograph. Get all text off the photograph to be honest; put it all on the left and leave the photo clear. It's a business card, not a poster and as such the information doesn't need to be eye catching.

I agree......get the text the heck outta the picture.
It's a beautiful image, and the text detracts. You have the space on the side for that.
Have you considered using a white font with a black outline or black font with a white outline? This would let the letters show up no matter what part of the picture it's over.
Since your pictures itself are so amazing, I don't see any point of trying to be creative with fonts, backgrounds, shapes (usual business card stuff). Your name and your pictures speaks well for itself, so here are some quick takes.
Those are great vikas. I really like the cookies and kids one although if i were DrAchoo i'd get both sets printed up!
LOL! You gotta remember, the man's a full-time doctor with a side helping of landscape-as-art going. The kids shot is great but it's not gonna hit his market...
I'm a huge fan of the cookies one. Very unique and eye catching. The purple one is gorgeous, but I could see people glancing over it. They're sure to read the other one. ..My two cents.
Heh, thanks Vikas. I love the one with the cookies, but Robert is right. Not going to be best for my potential clients.
Another thing to think about, when we shrink it down to business card size, I think that text is going to be on the small side.
I'm going to do some reworking based on suggestion here and by Robert. I MAY look at other fonts :D, but part of me feels the whole backlash against Papyrus is a bit snobbish and akin to rolling our eyes at a waterdrop shot, even if it's realy, really well done.
I am glad you all like it. I figured with your description that the cookies might not work for that crowd, but while you are up for printing some having two different styles wouldn't hurt - let the nurse hand out both the cards and see which ones people pick more often, you will know what your next batch is going to be (realized you are Allergist/Immunologist - you know your crowd better - forget I said that)- I am sure you will run out very quick with the first lot!
For the font sizes - typically on a business card - emails are 7-8pts (this is in the middle), Names and titles are 10-12 pts (again somewhere close to that) - there is no set rule but usually business cards have a lot more content and those sizes tend to work nice.
Although if you try to print this with a jpg image on your regular home printer, fonts might not look crisp. But with an illustrator output printed using an offset printer this will work well - just from what I have seen in past!
