Oh, there's lots to talk about. Did Matsui really deserve the Series MVP? I think it should've gone to Mo. Can the Yanks repeat next year? Does Tex or A-Rod have a shot at League MVP? Can Jeter continue to prove that he's not so over-rated after all?
I have always been confused why they call it the world series when all the teams that play in the finals are from the USA.

Spalding guide of america in 1887 named it "Worlds championship Series" (later shortened to world series) in the hope that other nations such as "Australia and Great Britain" would soon play and "become rivals"...none have. Also, as it was american league and national league meeting, then a bigger name was used..world....as regards america hoping Australia then Great Britain would play it, source states... "This didn't happen, but the name "World's Championship Series" stuck..
I thought Johnny Damon had a good shot at series MVP; too bad he had to leave the game.

I think the stats above say a lot. Matsui was huge (yes much of the RBIs came in Game 6). He hit critical HRs in game 3 and 6 to really drive the teams to wins. And he delivered some critical at bats in Philly as a pinch hitter.
Poor Ryan Howard, setting a new strikeout record. :-/
It's no surprise, the guy strikes out entirely way too much. For comparison, he has struck out more than twice as many times in his career than Yogi Berra did in his and Yogi played 13 more season.... Howard 878 and Yogi 414. Yogi wasn't exactly a power hitter but that stat is staggering. A better comparison is Howard vs. Pujols. Pujols has struck out 570 times in 9 seasons for a 66 strikeout avg per full 162 game season. Howard has struck out 878 times in 6 seasons for a whopping 194 stikeouts per 162 game season. He is striking out more than a third of the time at bat.
The .615avg is a little skewed when put next to the other 2 players that had almost double the at bats he did.
Howard is a power hitter, a low avg comes with the territory. Not saying his number isn't outrageously high, but at the same time its expected. The better he gets the more strike outs he'll have, because teams learn how to deal with him or pitch around him. Its a downer, but hes still an awesome player, and not to mention he really came into his own this year with his defensive prowless as well. I mean he lead the NL in RBIs again this season (for 3 out of the last 4 seasons) which means he does what a power hitter is supposed to...clean up when men are on base. I mean yeah of course I want to see him on base more in non-clutch situations, but ultimately I am happy with his performance.
Chate Utley is definitely one of the greatest ball players in the game today, as is Derek Jeter.
