While I love reading and I'm all for "inspiring a love of books in others," cramming through a book a day hardly seems to support that. Do you really have time to appreciate a book in that short a timeframe, especially when you're packing them in back to back? Interesting project and I guess it's working for her, just strikes me as odd.
For most of my life I have read 5-7 books a week, though lately I've slacked off to 3-4 and spent more time on worthless internet pursuits... You can definitely read a book a day and do it with quality, if you're a fast reader... Of course, *some* books take a little more time: "War and Peace" comes to mind, as does "Remembrance of Things Past" :-)

And The Stand. That one took me a few days. I'm the same way, I've really slacked lately though and am down to about 2 books a week.
