it does look like that...pretty exact. according to wikipedia, though, they're not indigenous to my area (albuquerque). it could be someone's pet, maybe, but our house is not close to anyone else's and i'd be surprised if it survived the wildlife around here to get this far from home.
The good thing on that is at least they're not poisonous! I would hate to have that sucker outside my back door! Tell him if he goes anywhere, to not come north. We're getting flurries up here in Denver, so hopefully that will keep him away. ;)
Looks like a South American Spotted Cobra to me. The only way to be sure is to let it bite someone (preferably someone you don't need anymore). If the person dies instantly then you know. Otherwise, it's probably something else.
