I don't want this to turn into a bash anybody, but since I am suspended for buddy voting. I would just like to know why this isn't considered the same. I have never made a comment to anyone while voting by stating their name, or even mentioning that I know who they are. I have also researched many previous comments, and find a few of the voters have duplicated this process many times by always making comments on a certain photographers photos by stating their name and what they vote for it. How do they have knowledge of who's photo it is every time? I am suspended for buddy voting, is this not buddy voting?
Please, someone investigate or give me an answer.

Because Irene has entered enough photos here for people to know her style. I knew it was her's during voting. I also knew which one banmorn's was. Did I give either of them a 10? No....so how can you call it buddy voting?
it's not buddy voting ... Irene doesn't reveal her images to users pre-challenge ... people know her style and guess that it's her image ... there's no law against guessing who the photographer is in the comments ...
I'm fairly sure no one checks for 'buddy voting' unless two people say hey we're friends or two people make someone angry so they check them out. It's obvious and uncontrollable for people to have biases towards certain photogs they like, the same way you'll always like your sports team or player despite they're inability to play. That said, there probably must be a loong history of high votes given to said buddy.
i think the point the OP is missing is that you are allowed to vote on a photo even if you know who took it, but you cannot have any bias in your vote. so yes, it's obvious that a bunch of people knew who took the photo, the question is did that sway their vote higher or lower. he's missing the true definition of "buddy voting"
Just because you recognize (or think you recognize) someone's image because of their style doesn't mean you like that person or the image they took... I can recognize certain people's images during a challenge but that doesn't make us buddies... and also, you don't REALLY know whose image it is until voting is over.
Somebody guessed I'm somebody I'm not in a current challenge. No, I was not mistaken for Irene, but for another very good photographer. Made my day, actually. And people have guessed me correctly a couple of times, too.

As pointed out yesterday, it doesn't even matter if it sways the score, the sheer act of doing it is what matters.
Ultimately it can't be proven if those people voted the way they did because of who they thought it was or not, so people are given the benefit of the doubt. Im sure if that IreneM thread didn't exist, nobody would have ever looked at Ken and Rug, but they got on the radar.
I think its best just to assume that yes buddy voting occurs in one way or another, but unless the challenges are decided by very very small fractions of a point, then it really doesn't have much impact.

Just because someone guesses doesn't mean they're right. Someone guessed someone else's photo was mine. Someone guessed wrong for my son's photo as well. There are probably as many incorrect guesses as correct guesses.
It doesn't matter if the votes affect a score or not— it's against the rules. "You may not offer or cast biased votes for any other user."
Ok. Thanks. So I'm reading that to mean that it's "ok" to vote on photos that you know who the photographer is, as long as you don't cast a biased vote.
Well, i don't think people should vote on a image witch they know who took it. It's unfair and i think it's unconscient to change the vote when you know it's owner.

...the sad part of your comment is that you assume that just because a person knows who took a photo that they will automatically be influenced.
I can tell you that there are several people on this site whose craftmanship I readily recognize... and I will tell you that my vote is directly proportional to the quality of their work.
It could also be argued that some people might suffer on the scoresheet simply because voters do recognize their works. How many times have you heard "I am so tired of water drop images", and have you considered that perhaps, just perhaps, it might have resulted in some negative voting on some of IreneM images.
I am of the opinion that the OP still does not have a full grasp as to what constitutes a "Buddy" vote.
