My son got a pair of binoculars for his birthday, and since it was very clear tonight I took him out to see Jupiter and the stars. We were standing in the backyard when I happened to look down and see a bright LED light in the grass. I figured the kids had left some battery powered toy out, but when I reached down I noticed a few more and suddenly there were lights all around us... not blinking like fireflies but glowing steadily. I caught a few and discovered that they're actually firefly larvae. Practically impossible to photograph in the dark, but very cool!
