Often I find myself wondering how many 8's / 9's /10's I would need to get to reach a certain score, or how many trolls it would take to drop me below a certain score!
I find myself sitting plotting various formulas in Excel to find out, and so to save myself time (and because I didn't have much better to do today) I came up with a spreadsheet which models (not sure if that's the right term) my future scores based on me getting any number of 1's / 2's / 3's etc.
I figured some of you might find it useful, if like me you punish yourself wondering how long it will take the 4 votes to bring you're score below 5, well now you can easily check.
I've snapped an example of it in use with little annotations (I really didn't have anything to do) and you can download an Excel or Numbers (for Mac) at //public.me.com/iain.w .
Hope you find it useful, oh and please don't make any investments / decisions based on the spreadsheet, I can't guarantee it works properly, and if you find it doesn't you're either welcome to let me know or butcher it in whatever fashion you like to fix it.

Interesting spreadsheet. After plugging in some numbers and trying to understand I am just confused. What is the average change number? That doesn't seem to make any sense. After plugging in some numbers the average change number is higher than the actual score number and it doesn't work out in percent so what is it? Maybe I need another cup of coffee before I try and do math stuff.
I'm not a math wiz anymore, so tell me if I'm right. Based on your screen shot...you want a 7 and hope for no lower than a 6.8, SO...you're at a 6.928 and based on your chart, you would need the next 9 votes to be 8s or better to get your 7.0 or better score?

The gray numbers are number of new votes, the numbers across the top are value of the new votes, so you can read like "I need x number of 7's to reach y score, or z number of 8s will do the trick..."
8 - 8's or 4 - 9's or 2 - 10's...now I get the gray numbers. I knew it would take more coffee. I understand now, good work!
Still not sure on the average change numbers though.
Glad you like it. The "Average Change" column is just the average of the votes you got since you last updated the spreadsheet. If you update the spreadsheet every time you get a vote the Average Change will show the value of each vote. If for example you update it once, then update it five votes later, the Average Change will be the average of those last five votes.
I hope that makes sense, I'm not the best at explaining stuff!
