Rino, your main problem here is dynamics. The lighting and tones are very bland, though the subject matter is excellent. In addition, the photo has a bit of motion blur witch kinda takes me out of it. I love the subject and his pose/expression, but lighting is a little flat (this can be fixed in photoshop with curves) and a faster shutter speed should cover up for the blur. Interesting, I've just looked back and out of 206 entries so far, i've only had 1 wth 0 comments (about a year ago), and quite frankly it didn't deserve any........ Never noticed this before....
I had no comments on this one. It finished average 5.45 - I didn't think it would ribbon - especially in a Free Study - but - I would appreciate knowing why it was so average. Thanks for your help - Diane

Average shot all around I guess. I wanted to go simple, I had some other close up shots but thought the simple route may be interesting. I seemed to have overshot simple and just hit mediocre.
This was back when I just started taking pictures. I thought it was a good shot when I submitted it. Looking back, I now know what is "wrong" with it, technically.
