I made a mask and put a rainbow gradient in it. I put the layer at 50% opacity to show some prism through, copied the layer/mask combo and erased the portion on the prism so I could set it to 100% opacity and have full colour up & to the right.

I need to somehow make the rainbow colours parallel to the edges & spereading, the way you'd expect them to be. The "light beam" entering the prism will be plain white.

Any help or advice, please?

Can you open it as a smart object and select that portion and use free transform? Take this from someone who knows enough to be dangerous and screw things up.

I know less than you. I'll look up help on "Smart Objects". It sounds like a smart object might be a wiser choice than a gradient for deforming. ;-) Thanks!

Bah, I was too lazy to learn a real technique, so I just used a brute force method by deforming a couple of layers without using masks.
