What would be a minor imperfection that could be legally removed from a picture??
I have an issue about that on my entry for The Ribbon challenge. I sent a ticket to SC but didnt got the answer until now...
Can someone give me a example? I think that what I did is legal, but I am a little anxious and wanted to know before the challenge start, so i could submit another picture, if necessary.
I tend to go by this principle: if you were to ask 5 people to describe what they see in the photo and not a single one includes it as something worth mentioning, then chances are it is "minor".
Sensor Dust, is one. in one case that I have done and it passed validation. a Bird. But this was because when i decreased the size of the photo down to 640 pixels the bird was no longer a bird but just a small little blotch in the sky so I cloned it out. I believe anything that loses its idenity after the size is decreased should be legal to remove. Simply because if decreasing the size changes it to the point where it would fool the voters into believing it is something else would be a clear violation of the rules however you have to follow the size limit rule. But I don't know for sure about this. even though it does make sense. Best thing for you to do is ask SC. I am sure one of them will give you an idea of what is Minor and what is not.
I really dont think so... For ME is a minor imperfection indeed, and it is ok to be removed... I am just afraid that SC thinks diferent... Reading the rules and noticing that is possible to remove power lines I really think that what I did is just OK... I just dont want to discover that is a violation by being DQ´d...
On my judgment my edit is fine...

To Bugzeye i say that I asked the SC, but i didnt get the response yet, and i am getting nervous because the time is running and the begginig of the challenge is coming...
If you photographed Obama and noticed he has a wort beside his nose and you removed it you would have removed a minor imperfection. If you removed his entire head, well, that would have been a major imperfection.
In the past I've asked the SC and was granted permission to remove minor imperfections such as:
- Trash receptacles in the background of a seaside composition
- A sign on a wall in a photo inside a landmark

Just a question to help me on the scales: Would the trash cans be visible (even if as a dot) on the miniatures? What would be the size/color of the signal that you removed from the wall?

Yes, the trash bins were small and off in the distance, but they were definitely identifiable as trash cans.
For the sign, look at the plaque under and between the third and fourth bells (from the left). There was a sign that was about the same size, but stood out like a sore thumb because it was white and clashed with its surroundings.
