there will always be life on earth, but it'll probably be bacteria and single cell guys that live in the ocean or those sweet tube worms and other stuff on the ocean floor
with a "poof"...or maybe a "Ka-blam". I think the Earth will just get swallowed up by the Sun when it expands into a red giant in a few billion years...but mankind will be gone long before that.

It is already ending. The extended warranty expired some time ago and it has not been taken for the needed repairs. Just too expensive and not really worth it for obsolete planets.
The human race will come last. But, I don't care, I still have smokes and beer, what more could a man want...wait, there was one more thing...what was it?
I don't think it will short of a sun supernova when the time comes... but I have little doubt that humans will not get that far.... Some stupid politician will wipe out the rest of us.... The question which of the whackos will start it and which will end it and when... and I include the regular list of whackos and the list of whackos that think that list of whackos are just whacko [if ya follow :-)].

Sol (our sun) us too small to go supernova, however, before it would do that anyway, it will have gone through a Red Giant phase, where it will expand to fill the solar system out to about the position of the Earth's orbit. Even though the red phase is considerably cooler than the present one, and though we'll certainly have access to a lot of solar energy, I don't think we are all that likely to develop an AC unit which will let us live comfortably on the surface of the sun. :-)
Actually, I think the Earth's core will eventually solidify, which will kill the earth's magnetic field. That will expose the planet to the full brunt of the sun's radiation, which will cook living things and evaporate the oceans, creating a runaway greenhouse effect turning the earth literally into Hell on earth.
Why not just read the bible? It tells how the story ends. Some of you believe the bible to be fiction, others believe it to be half and half, and others believe it to be the true and accurate God breathed Word of God.
Much of what is written in it has come to pass. Much of what is happening today in the world was written about first in the bible. Many people who actually pick up their copy and actually read it are not surprised with anything that is happening in the world today.
Our future is all layed out in black and white. What is your future? You have two choices... The answer is in the most unread book in the world and yet for some reason has sold the most copies in history.
So... How will the world end? What will happen when you die?
Somebody will find a true Good Fairy & wish for world peace. At that point every living thing on the planet will vanish. All life will end. And there will be nobody there to wish it all back.
When the DPC servers go down for a week and 1000s of angry DPCer's turn rabbid and start a random world wide killing spree. only then will life cease to exisit as we know it. once the killing is over, All DPCers will gather in one small village only to be burned down by Art. Art will die of loneliness and that will be the end.
